Judgmental Dogs

"I realized that driving stick wasn't for me when I was driving in a cul-de-sac with no other traffic around me," Agnes says, "and I was saying, 'Look at that dog!  That dog is thinking, "That girl can't drive a stick-shift!"'" "You make a good point," says Evira, "People who are a little crazy shouldn't drive stick-shifts," she pauses, "Not to mention, dogs are so judgmental!  I always hated that about dogs."

Creative People and Pain

What's more, says Csikszentmihalyi, the openness and sensitivity of creative people can expose them to suffering and pain. As electrical engineer Jacob Rabinow told him, "Inventors have a low threshold of pain. Things bother them." And yet, few things in life bring more satisfaction and fulfillment than the process of creation. -From an article by Hara Estroff Marano

Perfect Quote(s) for Valentine's Day

"Lovers in the first stages of attraction speak in harmonic dissonance-echoing and remarking on things that make no sense to anyone but their intended." -George Hagen, Tom Bedlam ********************************************************** Evira: "Yup, the lyrics really are 'Your sex is on fire.'" Agnes: "If my sex was on fire, I would hope that you would call 911."
